As an artist, I am many things. I am a book maker, a screen-print enthusiast, an illustrator, a motion designer, a good friend, a wannabe animator and a Graphic Designer. After I moved to the country, my art changed significantly. My art now explores themes of displacement from India but also delves into textures that are around me and I bring them into my art through different art forms. I usually create work with found materials that have a history to prolong its use. Working with my hands has always been a way of creating art and doing 3D projects but I’ve recently been more inclined towards graphic design and how I’d use it in the 3D realm. I’m especially focused towards nature, daily life and breaking the 2D/3D mold.
Coming to MCAD has helped me learn a lot of new softwares like the Adobe Suite, Blender and Toonboom. I find continually, that I have a need to refine my skills and collaborate with others to create user centered, impactful design solutions. I have work with ZOE’s media team to create engaging Instagram content, including photos, short films, promotional videos, and reels. I am also given the task of collecting A-Roll and B-Roll. At Panera Bread, I try to craft visually appealing salads and sandwiches, which enhances my design skills by experimenting with food presentation and recognizing patterns in everyday materials like the stains left behind by baked bread on parchment paper.
My approach to design is grounded in a deep appreciation for the role it plays in shaping and reflecting culture. I believe that design is a powerful tool for storytelling, and it is not only about creating visually appealing work but also about engaging with people, understanding their needs, and solving problems with empathy and intention. For me, design is about more than aesthetics; it’s about creating connections and crafting experiences that speak to both the intellect and emotions of the audience. I value collaboration and constantly seek to learn from others, embracing a design culture that is diverse, inclusive, and ever-evolving. Through my work, I aim to challenge conventional boundaries and push myself to innovate, while staying true to the core values of design, which in my opinion is creativity, integrity, and impacts. This mindset helps me bring unique perspectives to all my projects, ensuring that they are not only visually compelling but also meaningful and thought-provoking.
